3 Easy Rice Krispie Treats


Recently I've become obsessed with making rice krispie treats, so it's only fitting that they are the first of my Holiday Treats! Rice krispie treats are so easy to make and to make look amazing as gifts. I took the basic recipe and jazzed it up in three different ways.

Here's a refresher on the recipe:
3 tablespoons of butter
6 cups of rice cereal
40 marshmallows
splash of vanilla (if you want)




Melt butter in a saucepan, add marshmallows and vanilla and stir until melted and smooth. Pour over rice cereal and stir to incorporate. Pour mixture into buttered (or cooking spray or wax paper) pan and smooth out with spatula. Then put a piece of wax paper on top and press down. Let set and cut into squares.


For the first variation I did a Funfetti Rice Krispie. Really simple but so fun looking. 
Just add rainbow sprinkles to the cereal before adding the hot marshmallow mixture. When you stir them together, the sprinkles will melt slightly giving it that funfetti effect.


Then simply cover the top with sprinkles and you're done!



The next variation is a Peppermint Rice Krispie! (these are my favorite)

Start with the same basic recipe but add in Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips. These things are the best, they have such a nice flavor and they melt a little bit in the mix making the treats slightly red.


Then top the treats with white chocolate drizzle and red dyed white chocolate, red sugar and crushed candy canes. Voila! These are amazing if I do say so myself - perfectly minty and so festive.



The last is very simple, Star Rice Krispies. Just make the basic recipe, cut into star shapes and top with glittery gold stars (these are edible, from Wilton). These look adorable on your treat table for Christmas or New Years!





And there you go! Three easy ways to make cute rice krispie treats for the holidays. These are so easy that you don't even have to turn on the oven.
